• Introduction to Welding (IA201)
    Grade Levels: 10, 11
    BUHSD Graduation Requirement: Electives

    This course provides the exploration and study of hands-on skills in metal-working and joining metal.  This course has elements of traditional classroom instruction, lecture, and lab occupational safety, with emphasis placed on direct application of knowledge and skills development. Reading and a sound foundation in mathematics will be expected as well as working with others in a collaborative manner.

    Advanced Welding (RP163)
    Grade Levels: 11, 12 (students must be 16 yrs.)

    This course provides the study and hands-on skills in joining metal. Related areas covered are tool and equipment safety, the theory of the welding processes, equipment set-up, corrective actions on identified welding problems, the operation of metal shop equipment, welder certification which conforms to American Welding D1.1 welding code and print reading. The prerequisite for this course is Intro to Welding.

    Advanced Welding Fabrication (IA205)
    Grade Levels: 11, 12
    BUHSD Graduation Requirement: Electives

    This course prepares students Welding Fabrication is a course that provides students with opportunities to examine safety and technical information in metal fabrication and to participate in hands-on activities in the laboratory. Topics include career opportunities, safety, identification and selection, metal preparation and finishing, metal cutting, weld quality, using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes.  Intro to Welding is a pre-requisite for this course.
